The basics

What fleet telematics actually does for you

Fleet telematics turns vehicle data — location, speed, engine diagnostics, fuel use, driver behavior — into decisions you can act on. A device in each vehicle reports continuously to one platform, where it becomes reporting you can use to cut cost and risk.

The first wins are obvious: the vehicle idling forty minutes a day, the routes that overlap, the drivers quietly raising your insurance premium. Those surface in the first month and usually pay for the system.

The deeper wins take longer — maintenance scheduled on real engine hours, defensible records when a claim lands, utilization data showing which third of the fleet you could sell. Most fleets never get there, because nobody set the platform up around their goals.

Argos implements telematics on Geotab, ranked #1 by ABI Research four years running. As an Elite Reseller we install it, configure the reporting around what you're fixing, train your team — and stay engaged after go-live.

Route & Fuel Optimization

Most fleets find 10–15% of their miles aren't earning anything.

  • Identify and reduce unproductive miles
  • Optimize routes across the entire fleet
  • Track idling and fuel spend from one dashboard
  • Minimize downtime with maintenance updates

Compliance & Reporting

Stay audit-ready without chasing paperwork.

  • Full FMCSA compliance
  • More efficient record-keeping and inspections
  • Up-to-date logbook information when you need it
  • Minimize violations and improve your CSA rating

Open Integration

Your fleet stack shouldn't be five separate logins.

  • Connect through the Geotab Marketplace
  • Manage operations from a single platform
  • Build a system specific to your fleet
  • A platform that scales as you grow

Hardware

Devices matched to the vehicle

Light-duty pickups, Class 8 tractors, and equipment that lives outside all need different hardware. We spec it, install it, and verify it's reporting before we leave.

Geotab GO9 telematics device

Geotab GO9

The standard telematics device for on-road vehicles. Plug-and-play install.

Geotab GO Plus next-generation telematics device

GO Plus

Geotab's next generation. Satellite-ready tracking, an in-cab Wi-Fi hotspot, and an internal battery that keeps recording through a power loss.

Common questions

Before you ask

What is fleet telematics?

Telematics combines GPS tracking with onboard vehicle diagnostics. A device installed in the vehicle reports location, speed, engine data, fuel use, and driving events to a central platform, where it becomes reporting you can act on — where vehicles are, how they're being driven, and what they're costing you.

Will this work with my mixed fleet of light and heavy-duty vehicles?

Yes. The GO9 covers most on-road light and medium-duty vehicles, the GO9 RUGGED handles equipment and harsh-environment installs, and heavy-duty vehicles connect through a 9-pin harness. Mixed fleets run on one platform with one login.

Do we have to replace hardware we already have?

Often not. Geotab is an open, hardware-agnostic platform with OEM integrations and hundreds of Marketplace add-ins, so existing cameras, sensors, and shop software can frequently be connected rather than replaced. We audit what you're running before recommending anything.

How long does installation take?

It depends on your fleet's needs and preferences.

A GO device can be self-installed in a matter of minutes. For professional installation, we coordinate with your team to minimize downtime.

Whether you want a quick deployment or a systematic rollout, we work with you every step of the way.

How quickly will we see a return?

It depends on what's broken. Fleets with high idle time or fuel waste usually see measurable change in the first billing cycle, because those are behavior problems that reporting exposes immediately. Maintenance and utilization savings build over a longer horizon.

Is our data secure?

Geotab holds FIPS 140-3 validation, FedRAMP authorization, and ISO 27001 certification, and is the most widely deployed telematics platform in the Fortune 500. For public sector fleets, those certifications are usually what clears procurement and IT review.

What support do we get after installation?

Argos is your first call. We handle billing questions, troubleshooting, and day-to-day platform questions directly — no call center and no tiered queue, regardless of fleet size. Geotab provides 24/7 backup support behind us.
