GIS-verified route completion for public works fleets

Connect the GIS you already built to live fleet data in MyGeotab — and turn static route maps into verifiable proof of what was done, where, and when.

The questions you can't always answer
"Which streets were actually salted — and when?"
"Can we prove level of service to council and constituents?"
"Where were the coverage gaps during the last event?"
You can build the map. But can you answer these?
What we do

GIS you already have, connected to fleet data you already collect

GIS is central to how your agency understands and communicates operations. You've already built the layers — routes, zones, districts, priority streets. What's usually missing is the connection between those maps and what your vehicles actually did.

Argos specializes in closing that gap. We connect your existing GIS directly to live fleet data in MyGeotab, turning static route maps into verified, map-based proof of service delivery — live route status while an event is underway, and completion records afterward.

This is a genuine specialization, not a checkbox. We keep a certified GIS specialist on staff, which is rare among Geotab resellers, and it's why agencies running fixed-route services come to us specifically.

Why this matters to your agency

Four things you can do the day it's live

Prove Service Delivery

Verify routes completed with hard data, not self-reported logs.

Justify Budget to Council

Replace assumptions with data-backed spending decisions.

Reduce Admin Time

Auto-generate shift reports instead of manual reconstruction.

Citizen Accountability

Answer complaints with verified evidence and build public trust.

Move away from

Vague, unverifiable reports — "we think we completed the route" — that rely on assumption rather than evidence.

The goal

Map-based proof of service delivery across everything that follows a route.

Services we support

Built for everything that follows a fixed route

Snow Plowing & Salting

Most requested

Prove which streets were treated and when. Track salt usage against route completion, and answer council and citizen questions with evidence instead of estimates.

Street Sweeping

Verify coverage against posted schedules and document compliance with stormwater permit requirements.

Sanitation & Waste Collection

Confirm route completion, document missed pickups, and resolve service complaints with data.

Mosquito Fogging

Verify treatment coverage and maintain records for public health reporting.

No rebuild required

You don't need to rebuild anything

Integrate your existing GIS layers directly into MyGeotab — no new field workflows — using custom map support for ArcGIS, OpenStreetMap, WMS, and XYZ tiles. Start with one high-visibility service, gain operational visibility in a single pane of glass, then scale to public reporting and sustainability tracking.

Common questions

Before you ask

What GIS formats do you support?

MyGeotab supports custom map layers from ArcGIS, OpenStreetMap, WMS, and XYZ tile services. If your agency maintains routes, districts, or priority-street layers in any of those, we can bring them in directly.

Do we have to rebuild our existing GIS layers?

No. That's the point of the approach. We integrate the layers you already maintain rather than asking you to recreate them in another system. Your GIS team keeps ownership of the source data, and updates flow through.

Does this change what our drivers do in the field?

No new field workflows. Drivers operate the same way they do today — the verification comes from telematics data already being collected by the vehicle, matched against your route layers.

How long does implementation take?

Implementation varies from one customer to the next, depending on your needs and the complexity of your routes.

In most cases, once we have your shapefiles we have you up and running in 24 to 48 hours.

We'd still suggest starting with one high-visibility service — plowing, sweeping, or collection — proving it, and scaling from there. Not because the setup is slow, but because one verified route your council can see does more to build internal support than five configured at once.

Can we share verified route maps publicly with citizens?

Public-facing reporting is a common next step after internal visibility is established. Many agencies begin with internal verification during a season, then expand to a citizen-facing view once the data is trusted.

Does this work for services other than snow removal?

Yes. Anything that follows a route can be verified the same way — street sweeping, sanitation and waste collection, and mosquito fogging are all common. Snow and ice is simply where most agencies start, because it's the most visible to the public.

What makes Argos different from other Geotab resellers on GIS?

We keep a certified GIS specialist on staff. Most resellers can sell you plow tracking; far fewer can sit down with your GIS team, work with your actual layers, and build fixed-route verification around how your agency is organized.

Argos is an Elite Geotab Reseller and a 2026 Elite Public Works Partner. We're also employee-owned, which is why you get direct access to the people who configure your system — no call centers, no tiered queues.
